OSC – OSC has finished up their season and what a season it was. Saturday 8 non-masters teams battled it out and the LA Hitmen II finished on top of the rankings, followed by Dragonfire Black, Chikun Nuggetz, & Wonka Vision (who had guest ringer Dre from PSH Factory!). Games were fast for the most part as teams who attacked and took the 50’s early on usually ended up winning.
Sunday brought the master’s teams: LA Hitmen, Hundredth Hammer, Deviants, Splat Factory, Dragonfire Red, Wolf Pack 2, Flipped Out, and a new addition the Chikun Nuggetz. Games were fast and intense as the field layout once again rewarded those who were aggressive. Teams who normally play a more defense orientated game found themselves in weak crosses due to the field layout and were susceptible to game changing run-throughs. A few controversial incidents happened in the LA Hitmen/Dragonfire Red game as Dragonfire Red players were caught playing on and a lengthy 30 minute discussion was held before points were settled. Later on another altercation involving Dragonfire Red, this time with Hundredth Hammer, would end Hammer’s hopes of a season title. Dragonfire Red had a 3 on 1 advantage on Mike Ishii who was stuck in a large cube in the back corner. One DFR player went over the top and placed a few shots on Mike, who then proceeded to put his hand up signifying he was a dead player. A few seconds later a 2nd DFR player came through on the side and shot Mike a few more times in the head, then finally the 3rd DFR player came and shot Mike a few more times in the head, causing him to fire back at the DFR player which then caused the other DFR players to shoot at Mike repeatedly. The referees came over to break it up but by then Mike had had enough and attempted to grab a DFR player while being constrained. The referees then split the two groups up and began sorting through what had happened. In the end DFR won the game, and the Hammer player in question was suspended, forcing them to play 2v3 in their final game.
Right or wrong? The Ninja has talked to a few eye witnesses who were less than 15 feet from the incident and the wording they used was that DFR use malicious intent on injuring the Hammer player. However once the Hammer player grabbed the DFR player he erred as well. The Ninja begs the question, when should a player have the right to defend themselves? Obviously the Hammer player should have had the right defend himself on the field, are we suppose to allow blatant malicious overshooting to someone’s head? DFR definitely left a bitter taste in many viewers mouths yesterday.
When the dust settled DFR came out on top, LA Hitmen placing 2nd, Wolf Pack 2 3rd, and Splat Factory 4th.
Using Ninja estimates and the Ninja school of Math, the season standings for top 5 should be:
- LA Hitmen
- Dragonfire Red
- Hundredth Hammer
- Wolf Pack 2
- Splat Factory
